ENDOCRINE:

  • MAGIC Foundation: provides information & support to patients and families with various endocrine disorders, including growth hormone deficiency, constitutional delay, congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), panhypopituitarism, and precocious puberty.
  • American Thyroid Association (ATA): provides information to patients and families about thyroid disorders, medication, and treatment, including congenital hypothyroidism, acquired hypothyroidism, goiter, hyperthyroidism, Grave’s disease, and thyroid nodule. Contains materials in English & Spanish.
  • Turner Syndrome Society of US
  • Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of US
  • Intersex Society of North America: provides information & support to patients and families with various intersex disorders, including CAH, Klinefelter syndrome, androgen insensitivity, micropenis, and gonadal dysgenesis.
  • National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD): provides information & support to patients and families with very uncommon disorders of all origins (not just endocrine in nature).

DIABETES:

  • Juvenile Diabetes Resource Foundation (JDRF): provides information & support to patients and families with Type 1 diabetes; also promotes research for prevention and alternate therapy options
  • American Diabetes Association (ADA): provides a wide range of resources for individuals with diabetes. Most information on this website, however, is related to Type 2 diabetes.
  • Barbara Davis Center: Located in Colorado, the Barbara Davis Center leads the way with developing education materials for children with Type 1 diabetes (their Pink Panther series is used at many diabetes programs throughout the country).
  • Children With Diabetes: online community for families of children with Type 1 diabetes.
  • Clinical Trials.gov: national registry site for all clinical trials that are being conducted throughout the world. Try typing in “Type 1 Diabetes” and “USA” to help narrow your search to those being conducted nationally.
  • TrialNet: TrialNet is dedicated to research studies aimed at preventing and early treatment of Type 1 diabetes. Our office is a TrialNet site for some of these studies.
  • Novo Nordisk: one of the primary makers and distributors for insulin (NovoLog and Levemir). The website has drug information as well as patient education materials.
  • Lilly: the other primary maker and distributor for insulin (HumaLog).
    • Spoonful.com: is a collaborative website between Lilly and Disney that has support and educational materials primarily geared towards children and teenagers with Type 1 diabetes.
  • Calorie King: this online database has access to nutrition information for hundreds of foods and chain restaurants.
  • Apps: GoMeals (free, powered by CalorieKing), Glucose Buddy (free & paid versions; tracks BGs), Diabetes Pal
