Watch: Donald Gintzig Introduces Our New Strategic Plan
The WakeMed Board of Directors is nearing completion on our new strategic plan, which includes revisions to our mission, vision and values, as well as a set of 10 aspirational goals. As members of the WakeMed family, it is vital that we all understand our strategic plan so we can work to achieve the same measurable goals. All employees are encouraged to watch Donald Gintzig introduce our new plan through a series of four brief videos.

Expansion and Renovation of Raleigh Campus Labor & Delivery Unit
WakeMed will soon begin an extensive remodel and expansion project on 4B – Labor & Delivery at the Raleigh Campus. The new unit, which will be completed in summer 2015, will feature a family-centered environment along with the most advanced technology in maternal care. Phase I of construction will begin next week though access to the unit will not change. Staff may notice scaffolding and work on the outside of the building throughout the project. Additional updates will be provided throughout the course of the project.

Upcoming Power Outages at Raleigh Campus
Due to the Emergency Power Switching Systems project, frequent power shutdowns will occur on the Raleigh Campus over the next year. These outages will impact lighting and red emergency outlets in identified departments. Managers, directors and clinical administrators are being informed about the daily or weekly shutdowns. Outages that impact the entire campus will be announced in the WakeMed Weekly. Thank you for your cooperation and for your help ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff throughout this project. If you have any questions, please email Melody Wallace at
