About the WakeMed Heart Center
Dedicated Providers
The 57 WakeMed-affiliated interventional and diagnostic cardiologists and nine cardiac and thoracic surgeons support the WakeMed Heart Center in providing excellent patient care and treatment.
These providers, as well as the entire Heart Center staff, are committed to sharing their expertise with their colleagues throughout the region through consultations, direct patient transfers and education opportunities.
Dedicated Facilities, Services and Technology
Our center, services and technology are as state-of-the-art as they are focused and efficient. They are the direct result of suggestions and input from our caring and compassionate clinical staff, physicians, patients and regional providers.
By giving our providers the right tools and technology, they can respond to the needs and preferences of patients and their families. It's an ongoing process we believe in, and the reason why the WakeMed Heart Center is chosen by more providers and patients than any other heart program in North Carolina.
One Convenient Location
The hub of cardiac and vascular services is the WakeMed Heart Center on the WakeMed Raleigh Campus.
The current facility opened in 1998 and underwent a 58,000-sq. ft. expansion in 2005. Its layout allows patients convenient parking or use of valet services, and to register, see their cardiologist, and have non-invasive cardiovascular tests and invasive cardiac catheterization procedures in one location.
The inpatient nursing units and cardiac surgery suites are just steps away in the main hospital building, adding to the conveniences of the Heart Center.
A Strong Partner
WakeMed Heart and Vascular providers understand that all patients - local and regional - prefer to receive medical care from their own physicians in their own communities.
At the WakeMed Heart Center, our focus for regional patients is to ensure they have access to the diagnostic and interventional services that are not readily available to them in their hometowns. We want to limit the amount of time patients spend away from family and familiar surroundings as much as possible.
To do this, the WakeMed Heart Center team makes open, ongoing communication with regional providers and hospitals a priority.
