Float Pool Positions

Working in the WakeMed nursing float pool provides you with flexibility and competitive pay. Float pool nurses are able to develop their skills by floating between Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Critical Care areas, based on experience.

OPTION 1

  • Availability40 hours or less every two weeks
  • Shifts4, 8, or 12-hour shifts
  • Units: All areas
  • Pay$33.64 plus shift differentials

OPTION 2

  • Availability40 hours or more every two weeks
  • Shifts: 4, 8, or 12-hour shifts
  • Units: All areas
  • Pay$37.58 plus shift differentials
  • Benefits: Supplemental

OPTION 3

  • Availability48 hours or more every two weeks
  • Shifts12-hour
  • UnitsMed/Surg/Tele Peds/Mother-Baby
  • Pay$40.59 plus shift differentials
  • Benefits: Supplemental

OPTION 4

  • Availability48 hours or more every two weeks
  • Shifts12-hour
  • Units: Critical Care/ED Labor & Delivery, PICU
  • Pay$46.68 plus shift differentials
  • Benefits: Supplemental

Requirements:

  • Current North Carolina RN license
  • Current CPR certification (ACLS is required for some areas)
  • Have worked in a hospital for the past two years

Scheduling:

  • Float Pool Cover
    • Raleigh Campus
    • Cary Hospital
    • WakeMed North
  • Must work at least 32 hours per month
  • No weekends or holidays required
  • Set your own hours and availability
  • 4-hour, 8-hour, and 12-hour shifts available

Orientation Requirements:

  • New employee orientation (Monday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm)
  • Clinical orientation (Tuesday & Wednesday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm)
  • Department orientation
  • Additional orientation as needed

Benefits-Eligible Float Pool Positions

WakeMed offers full time benefits-eligible positions in the float pool. These positions provide guaranteed set hours, premium pay and benefits while floating between Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Critical Care areas. Applicants must hold a current NC RN license and have worked in a hospital for the past two years.

  • Benefits: Full time

OPTION 6

Contract Positions

Periodically, contract positions are available on specific units for limited lengths of time (usually 90 days). Specific qualifications vary per unit; all applicants must hold a current NC RN license and have worked in a hospital for the past two years.
