Dr. Susheel Atree is a board-certified physician in internal medicine with extensive clinical and teaching experience. He has worked for WakeMed Physician Practices since 2000 as a hospitalist and in the outpatient continuity clinic. He also has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine since 2000.
Dr. Atree also serves as a regional director of primary care for WakeMed Physician Practices.
Dr. Atree received his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia (now known as Drexel University School of Medicine) and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine (including serving as chief resident) at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. He also has a Master of Arts degree from Boston University and a bachelor's degree in chemistry and in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Michigan.
He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Association and Raleigh Academy of Medicine.
He and his wife, Dr. Behnaz Atree, have a daughter and a son. His interests include golf, volleyball, softball, tennis, table tennis, racquetball and astronomy.
