WakeMed Names Medical Director of Behavioral Health

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 5, 2013) – WakeMed Health & Hospitals is pleased to announce the promotion of Sharyn Comeau, MD to Medical Director of Behavioral Health. In this role, Dr. Comeau directs the activities of care related to the behavioral health needs of WakeMed patients.

Dr. Comeau joined WakeMed as a pediatric and adult psychiatrist in March 2012 and has continued to pursue additional responsibilities within the WakeMed system. Prior to WakeMed, she held professional health care positions as a psychiatrist with Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune and as owner of KidShrink, Pllc, a child and adult psychiatry practice in Davidson, N.C. Dr. Comeau also practiced as an emergency room psychiatrist with Carolinas Healthcare System and as an attending psychiatrist at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville, N.C.

Certified by the American Board of Child & Adult Psychiatry and the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, Dr. Comeau completed her medical training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University and in general psychiatry at the University of Connecticut/Institute of Living. In addition, Dr. Comeau holds a medical degree from Ross University, a master's degree in nursing from New York University and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Pace University.
