Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Scores
The new hospital safety scores were released by Leapfrog Group on October 23, 2013. WakeMed Raleigh Campus earned an A and WakeMed Cary Hospital received a B. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit organization that works to initiate improvements in the safety, quality and affordability of health care.
WakeMed recently began participating in the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. This participation positively impacting the system's scores at both hospitals.
The scores also reflects quality and safety efforts WakeMed has implemented, including the hospital system's Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), the nursing program's robust leadership and, integrated patient safety and risk management programs, ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) prevention, hand hygiene efforts and the establishment of the eICU, among others.
