  • In 2012, 685 individuals contributed 70,226 hours of service to patients, families and visitors in over 50 placement areas.
  • Provided huggables, quilts, baby caps and other hand-made gifts to patients of all ages.

  • See the Annual Report for a description of other accomplishments.

The Volunteers at WakeMed Cary Hospital hold fundraising events for the staff and the community throughout the year. All proceeds are used to support WakeMed patient- and family-centered programs and initiatives:

  • Purchasing of infant hearing screening equipment
  • Provide medications to immediate-need patients through the Rainbow Fund
  • Partner with the WakeMed Foundation to raise funds to help finance the building and furnishing of such facilities as the WakeMed Children's Hospital Ronald McDonald Family Room and Cary Hospital's Meditation Chapel and Emergency Department Family Waiting Room
Charity Golf Outing
Each year, The Volunteers at WakeMed Cary Hospital host a charity golf outing, most recently at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary. All proceeds directly benefit programs and services for Cary Hospital patients.

Blossoms for Life
Developed by The Volunteers at WakeMed Cary Hospital, Blossoms for Life is a unique way to express yourself - to say thank you for care you received; remember a loved one; or celebrate the birth of a child, an anniversary, graduation, birthday or other special event.

A contribution of any amount is welcome.  As a symbol of your gift, your name will be placed in the Blossoms for Life Memory Book found in the Volunteer Services office.  Your name will also be displayed on the donor plaque located in the Cary Hospital Conference Center entrance.  All gifts are used to fund programs and services at WakeMed Cary Hospital through The Volunteers at Cary Hospital.  For information about this year-round giving opportunity, call 919-350-2363.
