About Us

The pathology laboratories at WakeMed were formed in 1961 to provide high quality anatomic and testing services to Raleigh and the surrounding areas. The pathology laboratories consist of:

• Centralized laboratories at WakeMed's Raleigh Campus and at WakeMed Cary Hospital
• Specialized Testing laboratories at the WakeMed Raleigh Campus
• A Satellite Service Laboratory at WakeMed North Healthplex
• A Patient Collection Service Laboratory at Clayton Medical Park
• A Laboratory Information System

Accreditations
The WakeMed Pathology Laboratories are dedicated to ensure high quality and accurate testing.  The WakeMed Raleigh Campus, WakeMed Cary Hospital and WakeMed North Healthplex laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) with distinction. 

The Pathology Laboratories at WakeMed comply with all federal, state and local regulations.  These regulations include CLIA 1988 and all Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.  

The WakeMed Pathology Laboratories are licensed and accredited by the following agencies:

• The College of American Pathologists (CAP)
