Benefits & Technology in Simulation
The Benefits of Medical Simulation Training
Through the use of medical simulation training and education, health care providers have the opportunity to:
- Practice skills in a controlled, yet realistic environment
- Gain clinical competence and confidence through targeted training exercises
- Improve and enhance communication all levels of care providers
- Gain experience with uncommon clinical conditions and infrequently performed procedures
- Conduct research in a controlled environment
- Review specific cases and scenarios to identify areas of opportunity
Technology Available in the Center for Innovative Learning
Learning Management System (LMS) Our dedicated LMS provides students with access to all simulation encounters - video, audio and all data recorded throughout the scenario, including vital signs, actions taken, etc.
This allows for self-evaluation, the ability to read feedback provided by facilitators and instructors, and the ability to access scenarios for future reference. Conference Capabilities Participants who are unable to make it to the Center for Innovative Learning can login remotely, listen and watch all activity through our Polycom conferencing system.
Healthcare Gaming Programs Unique gaming programs such as Laerdal's MicroSim and Laerdal's HeartCode allow instructors to help learners develop decision-making and critical thinking skills.
Exposure to these programs allows us to conduct a program-specific needs assessment prior to conducting a full simulation exercise.
